Message from the Chairperson

I can report that we had a well-attended Mid-Year Feedback Meeting on 10 July. The presentations highlighted the considerable work undertaken by PBRA volunteers across our portfolios and reinforced the importance of community participation in shaping the future of Pringle Bay.

Mid-Year Feedback Highlights

Community Building continues to gain momentum, with successful Easter activities, the popular vintage car event and planning underway for Christmas Carols later this year. A 10 km fun run is also planned for 6 December in partnership with the Hangklip Athletics Club.

Signage projects remain an important part of maintaining the unique character of our village. Existing business and conservation signage has been refurbished, while improvements to the CBD notice board and additional signage at the waste drop-off facility are underway.

Infrastructure remains one of the most discussed issues in the village. Residents are encouraged to continue reporting service delivery issues via the municipal Collab App. PBRA continues to engage with the Overstrand Municipality regarding roads, drainage, flooding and long-term infrastructure planning.

Our Conservation volunteers continue to do exceptional work protecting the natural environment that makes Pringle Bay so special. Achievements include support for the NSRI beach access facility, indigenous tree planting, dune management, expansion of footpaths and the publication of Version 5 of the Pringle Bay Fynbos Guide.

PBRA also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of our volunteer First Responders, Street Watch members and medical response teams whose dedication contributes significantly to the safety and wellbeing of our community.

Membership Matters

During the social interaction session at the mid-year report back meeting several members raised with me their concern about the perception that only one ratepayer per erf is allowed to be a member. There appears to be some confusion regarding PBRA membership eligibility.

The PBRA Constitution provides for one voting member per erf. However, this does not mean that only one person per erf may become a member. More than one resident associated with an erf may join the Association as a paid-up member, although only one member per erf may exercise voting rights at meetings.

We therefore encourage spouses, partners and other adult household members to become PBRA members and support the work of the Association.

Waste Drop-Off Facility

The PBRA wishes to acknowledge the improvements recently implemented by the Overstrand Municipality at the Pringle Bay Waste Drop-Off Facility. The upgrades have improved both functionality and appearance, and we thank the Municipality for its efforts.

Residents are reminded of the following:

Please do not leave refuse bags outside the cage or facility.

The facility is primarily intended as a drop-off point for visitors when departing the village.

Permanent residents receive municipal waste collection on Thursdays and are encouraged to utilise the normal collection service.

Please avoid dropping waste after hours wherever possible.

If after-hours disposal is unavoidable, the small cubicle remains available for this purpose.

The gate of this cubicle is fitted with a barrel lock which allows users to open and close the gate when required.

Let us all work together to keep the facility clean, tidy and functional. Small actions by each resident make a significant difference.

In Closing

The PBRA Executive thanks all residents, volunteers and members who continue to contribute their time, expertise and energy towards making Pringle Bay an exceptional place to live. Together we continue building a stronger, safer and more sustainable community.

Happy Women’s Day and stay warm, until next time.
