On behalf of the executive of the PBRA, I would like to extend festive greetings to all ratepayers, residents and especially visitors to the village. 

To the visitors, may your time spent here over the festive period and the warmth of our communal spirit, create lasting memories of this truly remarkable place.

Situated within the Kogelberg Biosphere, Pringle Bay provides us with a unique experience in the natural coastal setting. Locals may be forgiven to believe that this is “heaven on earth”. Indeed, it is one of the most unique environments in the country.

In my interaction with visitors, inevitably the issue of baboon management is raised.

Accordingly, I would like to share the following brief message regarding baboon management with everybody.

The Overstrand Municipality(OM) has an Adaptive Baboon Management Plan(ABMP) in place. On the morning of our AGM, Tuesday 17 December, the executive of the PBRA met with the Mayor of OM.

She reiterated that the ABMP is informed by science. The focus is on keeping the baboons outside the urban edge. The PBRA is encouraged with the visible success we are observing as a result of the ABMP.

The PBRA has consistently expressed our confidence and support of this ABMP. For the benefit of our visitors, the OM Monitors are active and are identified via their yellow, fluorescent bibs with the words “OM Baboon Management “on the rear of the bibs.

We are appealing to residents and visitors to refrain from interfering with them as they execute their legitimate duties.

We would like to thank those ratepayers who have donated the new vests and hats to the OM monitors.

Once again, on behalf of my wife and myself I wish all ratepayers, residents, businesses and visitors a happy and joyful Xmas together with good tiding for the New Year.
